What “sharing” means in V380 Pro
Sharing gives another person access to view (and sometimes control) a camera that is already bound to your V380 Pro account. This is different from:
-
Logging in with the same account (simple but less secure and harder to manage).
-
Re-adding/binding the camera to a new account (ownership transfer, not sharing).
A proper share is the best option for family members or coworkers because you can grant access, control permissions, and revoke anytime without changing your password.
Before you start (important prerequisites)
1) Confirm the camera is online and working on the owner phone
On the owner’s Android phone:
-
Open V380 Pro
-
Enter Live View
-
Confirm the camera shows “Online” and the video loads smoothly
If the camera is offline, fix that first. Sharing cannot be completed reliably when the device is unstable or disconnected.
2) Confirm the recipient has V380 Pro installed and an account created
On the recipient’s Android phone:
-
Install V380 Pro
-
Create an account and log in (email/phone registration depends on region/app version)
-
Make sure they can open the app normally (even with no devices added yet)
Sharing is usually linked to the recipient’s V380 Pro account identity. Without a logged-in account, shares may fail or not appear.
3) Check that you are the device owner (bound account)
If you can change camera settings, manage storage, or see device info fully, you’re probably the bound owner. If your app shows limited controls or a “shared” label, you’re not the owner and may not be allowed to share onward.
Two common ways to share: QR Code and Device ID

V380 Pro versions commonly support one or both of these approaches:
-
QR Code Share
The owner generates a QR code inside the app. The recipient scans it to accept access. -
Device ID Share
The owner provides a device identifier (sometimes called Device ID/UID/Serial/ID). The recipient enters it to request or accept access.
The menu labels vary by app version, but the flow is consistent: owner initiates share → recipient accepts → device appears on recipient app.
Method A: Share using QR Code (recommended)
A1) Owner: Generate the QR code
On the owner Android phone:
-
Open V380 Pro
-
Go to the device list (home screen where all cameras are shown)
-
Tap the camera you want to share to open its options
-
Find one of these menus (names may vary):
-
Share
-
Device Sharing
-
Share Device
-
Share to Family
-
QR Share
-
-
Choose “Share via QR code” (or similar)
-
A QR code should appear on screen
Tips:
-
Keep the screen brightness high so scanning is easy.
-
Some versions let you set permissions before generating the QR code; if available, configure them now.
A2) Owner: Choose permissions (if the app offers them)
Depending on your V380 Pro build, you may be able to grant:
-
View only (Live View, playback)
-
Playback access (SD card/cloud replay)
-
Audio talk permission (two-way audio)
-
PTZ control (pan/tilt/zoom)
-
Alarm settings access (motion detection, notifications)
-
Admin-level settings (avoid granting unless necessary)
Best practice:
-
Start with the minimum needed permissions.
-
You can upgrade permissions later.
A3) Recipient: Scan the QR code
On the recipient Android phone:
-
Open V380 Pro and log in
-
Go to add device options
-
Look for a scan function such as:
-
Scan
-
Add via QR
-
Scan QR code
-
Accept Share
-
-
Allow camera permission if prompted
-
Scan the QR code shown on the owner’s phone
-
Confirm the share/accept prompt
If successful, the shared camera will appear in the recipient’s device list, often marked as Shared.
A4) Recipient: Verify access
-
Tap the newly added shared device
-
Confirm Live View works
-
Check whether Playback, PTZ, or Talk buttons appear based on what the owner granted
Method B: Share using Device ID / UID (when QR code isn’t convenient)
B1) Owner: Find the Device ID
On the owner Android phone:
-
Open V380 Pro
-
Tap the camera
-
Open Device Settings or Device Info
-
Locate one of these fields:
-
Device ID
-
UID
-
Serial Number
-
ID
-
Cloud ID
-
Copy it carefully. Mistyping even one character can fail the share.
B2) Owner: Start sharing by entering recipient info (if required)
Some app versions share by searching the recipient’s account:
-
recipient phone number
-
recipient email
-
recipient username
In that case:
-
Go to Share menu for the camera
-
Choose “Share by account” or “Share by ID”
-
Enter the recipient’s account info
-
Choose permissions
-
Send/confirm
B3) Recipient: Add/accept using Device ID
On the recipient Android phone:
-
Open V380 Pro
-
Go to Add Device
-
Choose “Add by ID” / “Enter Device ID” / “UID”
-
Enter the Device ID exactly
-
If prompted, confirm this is a shared device request/acceptance
Depending on the workflow:
-
The recipient may send a request that the owner must approve
-
Or the device appears immediately as shared after owner initiates share
B4) Owner: Approve pending share requests (if they appear)
On the owner Android phone:
-
Check messages/notifications inside the app
-
Look for:
-
Share Requests
-
Pending Shares
-
Authorization Requests
-
-
Approve the request and confirm permissions
Managing shared access (add, limit, revoke)
View who currently has access
On the owner Android phone:
-
Open camera settings
-
Go to Share / Sharing Management
-
You should see a list of shared users (account identifiers or nicknames)
Change permissions for an existing shared user
-
Select the shared user
-
Toggle permissions (PTZ, playback, talk, settings)
-
Save
Best practice:
-
If you’re sharing with children/guests, keep it view-only.
-
If you’re sharing with a helper/technician, grant PTZ and view temporarily, then revoke.
Revoke access (stop sharing)
-
Open Sharing Management
-
Select the user
-
Choose:
-
Remove
-
Unshare
-
Revoke
-
-
Confirm
Once revoked, the camera should disappear from the recipient’s list or become inaccessible.
Sharing vs. “Sharing the account password” (why sharing is safer)
Sharing the camera through the app is better than giving your login because:
-
You can revoke one person without changing your password
-
You can control permissions per person
-
Your other devices remain private
-
Your account security is not dependent on everyone’s password habits
If multiple people already use the same login and you want to fix it:
-
Change your password
-
Turn on any available account security options
-
Re-share devices properly to each person
Troubleshooting: QR scan fails, device doesn’t appear, or recipient can’t view
Problem 1: QR code won’t scan
Fixes:
-
Increase screen brightness on the owner phone
-
Clean the recipient phone camera lens
-
Move to better lighting (avoid glare)
-
Hold steady and keep a moderate distance (not too close)
-
Try using Device ID method instead
Problem 2: Recipient scanned QR but device doesn’t show up
Fixes:
-
Confirm recipient is logged into the intended account (not a different account)
-
Close V380 Pro completely and reopen
-
Check if the device appears under a “Shared” tab, not the main list
-
Restart both phones and try again
-
Owner should check Sharing Management to confirm the share actually exists
Problem 3: Recipient sees the device but Live View says “No permission” or “Access denied”
Fixes:
-
Owner should review granted permissions
-
Revoke and re-share with correct permission set
-
Ensure the camera is online and not rebooting
Problem 4: Recipient can view but can’t control PTZ or talk audio
This is usually permission-related.
Fixes:
-
Owner enables PTZ and/or Talk permissions for that user
-
Recipient reopens the device view after permissions update
Problem 5: Share request pending forever
Fixes:
-
Owner checks app notifications or a “Messages” area for pending approvals
-
Ensure both phones have stable internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
-
Try removing the pending request and re-sharing
Problem 6: Sharing option missing in the app
Possible reasons:
-
You are not the bound owner (you’re already a shared user)
-
The device model or firmware restricts sharing
-
The app version layout differs
Fixes:
-
Confirm you’re logged into the owner account
-
Check device info for ownership/binding status
-
Update the app to the latest available version on Android
-
Reboot the camera and re-open device settings
Best practices for secure, hassle-free sharing
Use minimal permissions by default
Recommended starting permissions for most family members:
-
Live View: allowed
-
Playback: allowed if they need to review events
-
PTZ: only if necessary
-
Talk: optional
-
Settings/Admin: avoid unless they manage the camera
Share to a specific person, not to “anyone with the QR”
If the QR code can be scanned by anyone who sees it, treat it like a key:
-
Generate it only when the recipient is ready to scan
-
Don’t post it in group chats
-
If you accidentally shared it widely, revoke and re-share
Keep owner account as the control center
The owner should:
-
Manage alarm settings and recording rules
-
Control firmware updates
-
Monitor who has access
When a technician needs temporary access
Use a time-limited approach:
-
Share with PTZ/view permission
-
Finish the service
-
Revoke immediately afterward
How to “transfer ownership” (when sharing is not enough)
If you’re selling/giving the camera to someone else, sharing is not the correct solution. The device should be removed from the current owner account so the new owner can bind it.
General approach:
-
Owner removes the device from the account (delete/unbind)
-
Factory reset the camera (recommended)
-
New owner adds the camera and binds it to their account
This prevents future access by the previous owner and avoids permission confusion.
Quick success checklist
-
Camera online on owner phone
-
Recipient already logged into V380 Pro on Android
-
Owner shares via QR or Device ID
-
Recipient accepts and sees device marked Shared
-
Permissions adjusted if PTZ/talk/playback are needed
-
Owner can revoke access anytime through Sharing Management
